This is a treatment used overseas and seems to be working for people.  I just wanted to post some info so people can learn what else is available.  Sometimes people end up traveling overseas to get what they want.  Doesn't say much for our FDA and medical system, but we are often behind what is being used in other countries.

I traveled to Belgium in 2006 to get my hip resurfacing with a BHR from DR. De Smet because it wasn't approved in the US.  More than 90,000 people world wide were getting the BHR and it was offered by most surgeons in overseas countries, yet not available here.

If you get on the discussion groups and talk with people that have gone before you, you can learn about doctors and procedures that are safe.

This is the info I have posted  http://www.kneesforyou.com/menaflexcollagenmeniscusimplant.php:

Menaflex™ collagen meniscus implant (formerly CMI) is a device designed to guide new tissue growth using the body's own healing process in patients with an irreparable meniscus tear or loss of meniscus tissue.  It provides a resorbable scaffold for the growth of new tissue in the meniscus.  There are Menaflex devices designed specifically for use in the lateral meniscus and medial meniscus.

Menaflex is cleared for sale in Europe and several other countries around the world.  It is not yet available in the United States. Detailed information on knee injuries and conditions, treatment options, and the Menaflex procedure can be found at www.menaflex.com
