I had a SynviscOne (3 shots in the same injection) March 4. This made my sore knee VERY angry. Now in week 6, my knee still is warm to the touch, with a Baker's cyst. It's still so sore I can sit only 30 minutes--then I pay with pain. I am on high doses of ibuprofin and cannot go in the local hot tub--the one thing that would make it feel better.

Because the knee is still so inflamed, I cannot have the replacement done at this time.

Anyone else have this reaction? Cry

Hi

I am sorry to hear about your reaction to the injections.  Did your doctor say that this is very common?  I'll have to do a internet search and see if I can find out more.

I have not had the injections, so I can't comment any further - wish I could.  The group here is still small, so I don't know if you will get much response.  I hope it will continue to grow.

Have you thought about getting a second and/or third opinon from another surgeon.  I mostly work with people with hip problems and this website is an outgrowth of it since so many people with hip problems also have knee problems.  The best advice I give people with probelms with their hips after surgery, etc, is to get several other opinions from other surgeons.  Sometimes sticking with one doctor does not always solve your problem.  There is a big difference in expeirnce between surgeons.  You normally want to try to use a surgeon that does a lot of knees or hips.  The doctor that does a little of this and a little of that are usually not as good. l have a few medical studies which show that.

I wish I could give you more information, but can't.  I do hope you find a solution soon.

I had a terrific response to the first series of Synvisc injections I received.  The second set didn't help but didn't hurt.

Have you told your surgeon that you have had this reaction?  Before every injection the surgeon always made sure that I had not had a bad reaction to the previous injection.  Obviously with the 3 injections in 1 you did not get those extra physician visits to check your response.

Your reaction does not sound normal.  I strongly urge you to contact your physician and tell him/her that you have had this response.

Good luck.  I hope that you feel much better soon.
